Nature Workshops with Wild Rhythm

Part of our ‘Connect to Nature’ Easter Holiday programme, these workshops, brought to you by Wild Rhythm, are designed to entertain and educate by exploring our natural environment.
Recommended for Ages 5-14 (Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times)
Workshop 1 – 10am-12pm – Nature Arts & Crafts
Activity 1 – Make Your Own Journey Stick
A Journey Stick links back to aboriginal tribes. The stick helps with both navigation, placing the sticks on route as markers, and as a way to recount the journey to the tribe upon return. This activity involves a walk around the gardens to collect items in order to decorate your very own Journey Stick to take home.
Activity 2 – Games in Nature
The group will learn how to make and play traditional games using only natural materials gathered from the gardens.
Workshop 2 – 2pm-4pm- Rhythms of Nature
Your group will be led around the gardens of Insole Court by an expert guide who will highlight the sounds that exist in nature. You’ll have a chance to use a contact microphone to hear sounds we might normally miss and use the latest technology, like PlantWave, to help connect with nature. The session will end with an opportunity to play natural instruments such as an ocean drum and rain maker.
About Wild Rhythm
We’re a not-for-profit organisation based in Cardiff, South Wales, with community and wellbeing being at the heart of what we do. Our aim is to get more people connected to nature, which among its many benefits, helps improve our physical and mental health. The idea came about when we brought together two of our passions – Walking in Nature and Music. It wasn’t long before we knew we wanted to share these experiences with others. Research shows that nature connection can help us feel more relaxed, reduce stress, find inspiration and meaning among many other things.
