The Secret of the Sistine Chapel

December 4 @ 18:15 - 19:30

We are thrilled to announce that ICCW has organized the first in a series of art lectures celebrating the beauty of Rome. With the Giubileo (Jubilee) approaching next year, these lectures provide a timely opportunity to explore Rome’s rich artistic heritage.

Our first lecture will be led online from Rome by Andrea Domini, a dedicated art historian, who will reveal the secrets of the Sistine Chapel, offering unique insights into this iconic masterpiece. Each session in this series will illuminate different aspects of Rome’s history and art, providing fresh perspectives on the city’s timeless allure.

Introduction to Andrea Domini: Passionate Art Historian and Licensed Tour Guide

Andrea Domini, born and raised in Rome with roots in Florence, developed a deep appreciation for art through the masterpieces of the Renaissance. Inspired by works like those of Michelangelo and Botticelli, Andrea pursued an academic degree in art history at the University of Rome “La Sapienza,” specializing in 16th-century art. Andrea’s thesis focused on the frescoes in a 16th-century palace near St. Peter’s Square, showcasing art commissioned by Pope Gregory XIII—still captivating visitors on the Vatican museum path. Andrea continued this journey by becoming a licensed tour guide, sharing insights in both English and Spanish to bring Rome’s evolving history to life for audiences worldwide.

Cost: £20 per person
Structure: 45-minute lecture with accompanying slides, followed by a 15-minute Q&A
